Gerald C. (Jerry) Kane
Gerald C. (Jerry) Kane is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. His research interests include exploring the role of information systems in social networks, organizational applications and implications of social media, and the use of IT in healthcare organizations.
Prof Kane is a recent recipient of a CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation, the Foundation’s “most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research,” for research and teaching related to using social media to manage knowledge.
His published research has appeared in such academic journals as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Organization Science, Marketing Science, and Harvard Business Review, among others. He has been interviewed for articles on social media by journalistic outlets such as Associated Press, Sloan Management Review, BBC News, CNBC, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Boston Herald, and The Conference Board. Dr. Kane received his Ph.D. from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University and his M.B.A. in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University.
